Smokey Mountain is another world. A world which at first glance seems so different to what the majority of our visitors are used to. We see people working hard scavenging for recyclable goods or putting up with the smoke in the charcoal making production. We wander down the narrow alleys of the area, observing and see residents living in small, wooden huts with poor sanitation, and with reduced poor access to water and electricity.

Life is tough, it’s dirty but it’s not a depressing place. People are smiling and getting on with life.

Visit Manila’s largest dumpsite where people live and work amidst the city’s garbage. Understand about the issues that Smokey Mountain’s residents face, and what NGOs are doing to combat these problems.
